I have been a support worker for 9 years now, and I’m happy to say that I have been lucky enough to make a difference in so many young people’s lives.
I have many successful stories to tell, most recently I have worked with a young person who had got herself into trouble and evicted from her residential properties and found it hard to work with professionals. TB came to Care first Services in March 2018, it was a rocky road to begin with, but I eventually gained her trust. With the right encouragement TB went on to complete her English and maths and started a full-time job. TB now has her own flat, and her future looks promising.
The fact is you may not always see the positive impact that you are making in someone’s life straight away, but eventually with encouragement, understanding, empathy and persistence you can make the difference and they can go on to live independently.
